Located in the ever-vibrant Pererenan, an area that fuses modern tropical living with Bali’s serene essence. The Umanyar stands as a private villa space reimagined through function, mood, and design clarity. Commissioned by our valued client Iwan, the brief was rooted in balance: to develop a complete interior environment that feels intentional, open, and deeply comfortable.

Mafaza Living was entrusted with creating bespoke furniture and spatial solutions for the villa’s two bedrooms, bar kitchen, and open living area. The result is a composition of material warmth and architectural rhythm, a sophisticated residence where design speaks in calm, well-paced tones.

Design Concept: Calm Precision in Every Detail

The Umanyar project was built on the idea of “elevated simplicity”, a design ethos that strips away the unnecessary and celebrates form, light, and material with careful intention.

Each room was developed to reflect the villa’s natural surroundings and spatial flow. As such, the furniture wasn’t just placed, it was positioned, in alignment with views, natural light paths, and the emotional experience of being in each space.

We worked closely with the client to create a custom-fitted interior layout that allows for intuitive movement while enhancing visual and tactile comfort. From material palettes to furniture proportions, every decision was crafted with quiet precision.

Bar Kitchen: A Statement in Stone and Structure

At the heart of the villa lies the bar kitchen, a bold yet inviting focal point. The cabinetry was built using solid wood with a dark matte stain, paired with a custom-cut marble countertop to introduce timeless luxury and durability. The kitchen island, designed for both function and interaction, features integrated storage, an induction cooktop, and tailored bar seating.

Above, the exposed concrete ceiling plays off the polished surfaces below, while track lighting creates targeted illumination across prep and dining zones.

The layout encourages a seamless connection between the kitchen and living room, allowing conversations to flow while preserving a strong visual axis toward the outdoor space.

Living Room: Fluidity Between Inside and Outside

The living area was approached as a shared retreat, an open yet defined environment that maximizes natural light and scenic views of the garden.

We incorporated custom modular seating made with premium foam and linen-blend upholstery, supported by solid teak framing. The layout orients users toward large glass panels while maintaining ergonomic spacing for circulation, side tables, and accessories.

One of the most loved features in the living space is a single armchair corner, strategically placed by the sliding doors. Here, clients can sit with a book, enjoy their morning coffee, or simply take in the soft greenery of the villa’s surroundings. The armchair, upholstered in a soft grey boucle, serves as both a comfort piece and sculptural object.

Bedroom Suites: Where Texture Meets Serenity

Each of the villa’s two bedrooms was furnished to deliver comfort without clutter, warmth without excess. The sleeping areas feature custom teak bedframes, designed with clean silhouettes and elevated platforms. The wood’s natural grain was left exposed, treated only with water-based sealant to highlight its raw beauty.

We combined these beds with floating bedside panels, built-in reading lights, and discreet power integration to support both rest and routine.

Soft linens, neutral throws, and muted color palettes frame the beds, while vertical millwork storage along the walls provides ample organization without visual bulk. The contrast between the warm timber flooring and the cool-toned concrete wall forms a striking dialogue between earthy and industrial.

The end result? A sleep sanctuary that feels both grounded and breathable.

Material Selection: Timeless, Sustainable, Local

True to Mafaza Living’s design values, all materials used in this project were carefully curated with sustainability and longevity in mind.

• Teak wood: sourced responsibly from Central Java, kiln-dried, and hand-finished.
• Natural stone surfaces: for countertops and bar, resistant to wear, humidity, and heat.
• Boucle and linen upholstery: chosen for both aesthetic softness and long-term use.
• Low-VOC finishes: used across all cabinetry and woodwork to support healthy indoor air quality.

These materials don’t just perform, they age gracefully, growing richer with time and use.

Installation & Spatial Optimization: Designed for Human Rhythm

Every piece in The Umanyar was custom-measured, produced in-house, and delivered with on-site layout validation. We adjusted placements to match the villa’s real-world lighting conditions and user behavior.

For instance:

• The bar island was positioned to maintain an open sightline to the poolside.
• Bedroom beds were placed to catch morning light without glare.
• Furniture spacing allowed for ease of movement across areas without interrupting visual cohesion.

It’s this attention to human rhythm and flow that makes the villa not just beautiful, but livable.

Working with Mr. Iwan was a collaborative experience built on shared values, clarity, minimalism, and respect for nature. The process spanned from early design consultancy and sample discussions to final layout adjustments on-site.

Our in-house team in Jepara worked across cabinetry, upholstery, joinery, and finishing, allowing us to control the entire production chain and ensure the result reflected our promise: tailor-made furniture, delivered with precision.
